When being alone is misery

To be alone in grief is misery.

To be with another in grief is life sanctified.

Pain held privately is biology.

Pain shared is a form of healing.

Pain isn’t a good in and of itself.

Pain may heighten the awareness of important things.

Loss is unavoidable; still sun shines and flowers bloom.

Let go of a past too tightly held.

Choose life.

  1. Emily White wrote a memoir on her loneliness. I’m going to try to finish it but it’s a tough read. She has friends but seems to have a heart-mind of unshakeable terminal uniqueness. I also get the impression that she’s easily caught in paralysis of analysis, like many of us thoughtful humanists are?
